Duncan Tappy - VonRyan Racing
Get the Flash Player to see this player.

Duncan’s first British GT race of the season saw him overcome a sizeable weight handicap and a compromised qualifying session to power his car to a top-10 position – only for a technical failure to send it tumbling back down the field.

However his racing partner Gregoire Demoustier then repeated the feat to take the duo to a top-10 finish.

The weekend’s visit to Rockingham Motor Speedway in Northamptonshire was the first-ever for Gregoire and the Von Ryan Racing team. It was also Duncan’s first British GT race of the season.

And the race was an eventful one. British GT rules state that driver pairings must consist of a gold and a bronze-rated driver. However Duncan and Greg are classed as gold and silver drivers respectively.

This meant they must drive with 75kg of ballast on board. As a result the car’s single-lap performance was heavily compromised and they could only manage to qualify in 19th position.

John Gaw - PGF - Kinfaun

PGF-Kinfaun AMR is the new name for Kinfaun Racing for the 2013 season to better reflect the business interests of the drivers Phil Dryburgh and John Gaw. In some format the team has been together for over 10 years, winning races in British GT, GT Cup, and the British Endurance Series and also competing in many other championships including the Porsche Carrera Cup, the Clio Cup and the original version of the ELMS in 2004 achieving 3rd place in the LMP2 category. The team is now an official AMR Partner team and will enter the 2013 British GT Championship under the PGF-Kinfaun AMR banner. The best recent result that the team achieved was the outright win in the Britcar 24 hour race in 2010 and numerous outright race wins in that championship in 2011 and 2012.

After a strong run in round three at Rockingham, a two-hour race at the start of May, the team's Porsche 911 GT3R will now contest a three-hour race with Ahmad Al Harthy and Michael Caine once more at the wheel. Apart from the challenge of the longer race, the team also has to contend with one of the best entries ever seen in British GT as several top GT teams from Europe join the already very strong field.

Joe Osbourne - 888 Optimum Racing

For Joe, racing is not a job, or even a hobby, it is his passion and focus that drives him daily to succeed to the highest level, in every race, every track day and every racing event he undertakes, however, more than just a driver of cars, Joe understands the business behind the cars on the track and he is able to work with sponsors, clients and teams to improve their commercial opportunities. This understanding and recognition of professional networks and relationship building is what Joe believes sets himself apart from the drivers next to him at race briefings.

Rockingham was host for Round 2 of the British GT championship. The format for the weekend was a single 2 hour race meaning there would be a pitstop for fuel, tyres and a driver change. Same format as last year when I took victory with Steve Tandy in our Trackspeed Porsche. Our tails were up coming into the weekend after a successful test in the week at Snetterton, where they really started to understand our BMW Z4 GT3 with some serious gains found in our pace.

Matt Bell - Autosports Audi R8 LMS Ultra

Matt Bell’s 2013 race season gets going this Easter weekend with the first round of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Oulton Park in Cheshire. The Geordie racer will contest the full season in the No.25 United Autosports Audi R8 LMS Ultra, alongside Mark Patterson.

The 2013 British GT season promises to be the most competitive season yet of the popular national championship and Matt intends to be at the sharp end from the start.

He said: “We want to hit the ground running at Oulton. We all know the circuit, we know the car and Mark and I have raced together before so there’s no reason why we can’t get stuck in straight away. We have some very strong competition this year but we are prepared and ready to take them all on.”

The competition has an extra edge for Matt this weekend as sibling rivalry could come into play. Matt’s brother Rob, a factory driver for McLaren, will race one of United Autosport’s McLaren MP4-12Cs at Oulton, which could put the two brothers in a head to head battle on the track.

On racing against his brother Matt said: “I've raced against Rob a few times now when he's been in a different team so it'll be good to have him in the same garage this weekend. We aren't actually that big on sibling rivalry as there’s a 10 year age gap between us but of course I would like to beat him. One thing I know for sure though is that Rob is very quick and he has had a lot of success so he’ll be tough to beat. I also need to make sure I’m focused on beating the other 33 cars as well!”

Matt is no stranger to British GT success as from the final three rounds in 2012 he and his team-mate Charles Bateman took two victories and a podium finish for United Autosports. This is a new season though so until the cars take to the track at Oulton Park this weekend it’s hard to say who will provide the toughest competition.

Matt explained: “It's always difficult to predict who will be quick at the first round so it'll be an interesting weekend. That said there's no one in there we haven't beaten so I expect to run at the front. Pre-season testing went well so I'm excited about getting stuck into the competition.”

Qualifying for the two one-hour sprint races takes place on Saturday at 16:30. Both races take place on Easter Monday at 10:55 and 14:55.

Jonny Adam - Beechdean

Jonny rejoins Beechdean for 2013 season

Top Aston Martin Racing customer team, Beechdean Motorsports announced they will run a 2013 specification Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 in this year’s Avon Tyres British GT Championship.

TheBritish outfit retain drivers, Andrew Howard (Buckinghamshire) and Jonny Adam (Kirkaldy), and the duo link-up again for their third successive year of racing with each other; together Howard and Adam have scooped three wins since the start of the 2011 season and are confident of enjoying more success in 2013.

Last season, Howard and Adam took a victory in round two at the Nürburgring and in doing so gave the V12 Vantage GT3 it’s first ever race victory. Two further podiums, including a second place finish in ‘that’ race at Brands Hatch where Adam and Howard overcame a 25 second deficit in some 28 laps to the RJN Nissan GT-R, only to lose out to Jann Mardenborough by just 0.022 seconds as they crossed the line side-by-side.

Tom Sharp - Ginetta GT

Ginetta GT Supercup regulars Tom Sharp and Colin White enter 2013 Avon Tyres British GT Championship with new team ‘IDL Racing with CWS’ in the revised Ginetta G55 GT3 car.

The Surrey based team will be headed by former Ginetta GT Supercup racers, Tom Sharp and Colin White. With seven years of racing under his belt Tom Sharp is ready for the new challenge in his young racing career and with Colin’s wealth of experience the team should be in fighting form.

Team Principle, David Sharp said; “Both Tom and Colin have shown what they are capable of over the last few years competing in Ginetta’s and together in a not to dissimilar car they should be a very strong pair.”

Colin White said; “Racing last season in the British GT at the Nurburgring and winning our class in the G55 cup car gave me the desire for the outright GT3 win. The obvious progression is to a Ginetta GT3 car with the latest upgrades. Having a very competitive team mate with similar aspirations makes IDL and CWS a winning combination.”

After testing the car at Donington Park Tom Sharp explained, “It was good to get the chance to test the car with the added ABS and traction control it’s come a long way since I raced it at the end of 2011 and I’m confident it will give us the opportunity to compete for race wins”.

The pairing are the second outfit to announce an entry into the British GT with a Ginetta G55 GT3 car, as they join the Ginetta Works Team entry of Ginetta Chairman Lawrence Tomlinson and former Ginetta GT5 Challenge and G50 cup racer Richard Sykes.

Tomlinson added; “It’s great to see Tom and Colin progressing up the Ginetta racing ladder into the British GT with one of our cars.

They have both enjoyed success in the Ginetta championships and have been great ambassadors for Ginetta with 12 years of experience between them. I’m sure they will come out challenging from the start and I look forward to racing against them.”
